WASHINGTON, D.C. – The sheer madness of President Trump and his Republican acolytes appears to have no bounds. Witness the case of  Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) who introduced a bill on Feb. 11 authorizing President Trump to ”acquire” Greenland and renaming it “Red, White, and Blueland.”

“America is back and will soon be bigger than ever with the addition of Red, White, and Blueland,” said Carter upon introducing the bill. “President Trump has correctly identified the purchase of what is now Greenland as a national security priority, and we will proudly welcome its people to join the freest nation to ever exist when our Negotiator-in-Chief inks this monumental deal.”

This is not the latest attempt by House Republicans to curry favor with Trump by introducing legislation to enable the President to acquire Greenland.

On January 15,  Republican Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) led several of his Republican House colleagues in introducing the Make Greenland Great Again Act.  This act “would direct Congress to support President Trump’s negotiations with Denmark to acquire Greenland immediately.”

“The United States’ ownership of the Danish territory would allow for the advancement of American economic interests and national security priorities,” according to a press release from Ogles’ Office: ogles.house.gov/...

“The acquisition of Greenland by the United States is essential to our national security,” said Ogles.  “Joe Biden took a blowtorch to our reputation these past four years, and before even taking office, President Trump is telling the world that America First is back. American economic and security interests will no longer take a backseat, and House Republicans are ready to help President Trump deliver for the American people. That’s why I introduced the Make Greenland Great Again Act.”

The 12 cosponsors of that bill are: Reps. Mike Lawler [NY-17], Dan Crenshaw [TX-02], Brian Babin [TX-36], Claudia Tenney [NY-24], Neal Dunn [FL-02], Diana Harshbarger [TN-01], Barry Moore [AL-01], Mike Rulli [OH-06], Randy Weber [TX-14], Anna Paulina Luna [FL-13], Lauren Boebert [CO-04], Jim Baird [IN-04].

“We have a mandate to help President Trump execute his America First agenda, which is one of the reasons I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of this bill,” gushed Congresswoman Harshbarger. “Greenland, becoming part of the US, would not only provide a strategic military advantage and boost the American economy but also benefit the residents of Greenland.”

“Greenland and the United States already enjoy a strong, mutually beneficial relationship that includes the presence of our Pituffik air base,” said Congressman Dunn. The United States is well positioned both physically and strategically to protect Greenland and encourage economic growth that will benefit both Americans and Greenlanders. We in Congress are encouraged by President Trump’s vision of a stronger relationship between Greenland and the United States by offering to put forth a proposal to acquire Greenland and are eager to pave the way by providing official congressional authorization to do so.’

The population of Greenland is mostly indigenous, with 89.51% Greenlandic Inuit, 7.5% Danish and 1.1% other Nordic.

Danish MEP Anders Vistisen, from the right-wing Danish People’s Party, slammed Carter’s legislation on Tuesday: www.politico.eu/...

“There is clearly a need for more adults in the room when the U.S. administration formulates foreign policy,” he told POLITICO. “If these people can’t see how absurd they appear, they are out of touch with reality.”

Meawhwhile, in response to Trump’s plan to acquire Greenland, a satirical website in Denmark, https://denmarkification.com, has launched a campaign to purchase California.

“Have you ever looked at a map and thought, ‘You know what Denmark needs? More sunshine, palm trees, and roller skates.’ Well, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make that dream a reality,” the website stated.

“Let’s buy California from Donald Trump!” the website continues.

The petition has already obtained 222,790 signatures in its goal to reach 500,000.

They say they will provide Californians with "rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries."

What more could you ask for?
